I have the honour to refer to my despatch No.720 of 15th November, 1939, and your staff despatch No.1 of 1st January, 1940, on the subject of the payment to Mr. A. J. R. Moss, Superintendent of Kai Tak Aerodrome, of a temporary bonus of $200 a month, with effect from 27th August, 1939, and also to my telegram No.401 of 15th November, 1939, in which I requested that you should either approach the Air Ministry to release one of the Assistant Superintendents (Messrs E.B. Nelson and M. N. Oxford) or recruit one temporary assistant superintendent.
By this
2. I have now to inform you that Flying Officer E.B. Nelson has been seconded by the Air Ministry for civil duty at Kai Tak Aerodrome for a period of six months and that he returned to Hong Kong and resumed his duties as Assistant Superintendent on 7th February, 1940. means the staffing difficulty at the Aerodrome has been temporarily overcome and the present position is similar to that which obtains when either the Superintendent or one of
In the the Assistant Superintendents is on long leave. circumstances payment of the bonus to Mr.Moss is no longer justified and was discontinued with effect from 7th February, 1940.
